Privacy Policy for Crop Damage Assessment Mobile App

This privacy policy governs your use of the mobile application (“Crop Damage Assessment”) published on Google Play. The Application provides a digital platform for field-based crop damage assessment and SDRF reporting to enable transparent, efficient delivery of relief to affected farmers.

This mobile application is developed and maintained in-house by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, India. It supports authorised field operations for capturing geo-tagged assessments, photographs, and relevant farmer/land details to strengthen disaster response and agricultural resilience in Tamil Nadu.

The contents published in this Application are provided by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Tamil Nadu, India or allied Government establishments. All information provided through this Application may not have legal sanctity and is for general reference only, unless otherwise specified. However, every effort is made to provide accurate and reliable information. Users are advised to verify the correctness of the facts from the concerned authorities. The Government of Tamil Nadu and its allied establishments will not be responsible for the accuracy and correctness of the contents available in this Application.

User Provided Information:

The Application may obtain the information you provide when you download and use the Application. Some features may require authentication or role-based access for authorised officials.

When you register and use the Application, you may provide: (a) your name, designation, department/office details, and other registration information; (b) information you provide when you contact us for help; (c) information you enter during field assessment such as farmer details, land particulars, crop type, extent, damage observations, photographs, and geo-coordinates.

The information you provide may be used to contact you with important information and required notices, and to process assessments for decision making under applicable government schemes/guidelines.

Automatically Collected Information:

The Application may collect certain information automatically, including but not limited to: the type of mobile device you use, your device’s unique device ID, IP address, mobile operating system and version, the type of mobile internet browser you use, diagnostic logs, and information about how you use the Application.

The Application may use GPS (or similar technology) to determine your current location for geo-referenced field inspections and maps. Location information may be stored with the assessment record and used by authorities for necessary actions and policy decisions.

If you do not want the Application to use your location, you may turn off location services in your device settings and/or within the Application. However, features that require GPS/location will not be available when disabled.

We may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:

• as required by law, such as to comply with an order, or similar legal process;
• when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
• with trusted service providers working on our behalf, who have no independent right to use the information we disclose to them, and who are bound by confidentiality obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy.

You can stop all collection of information by the Application by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes available on your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

Data Retention Policy, Managing Your Information

We will retain User Provided Data for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable period thereafter for statutory, auditing, grievance redressal, and archival purposes. We will retain Automatically Collected Information for a reasonable period depending on the nature of the Application and may subsequently store it in aggregate. Some or all User Provided Data may be required for the Application to function properly.

Misuse by Non-Targeted Users

This Application is intended strictly for use by authorised government officials and designated personnel. Misuse by non-targeted users should be prevented by the device owner. Unauthorised use is prohibited.

Security

We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information we process and maintain. For example, we limit access to this information to authorised employees, contractors, and service providers who need to know that information to operate, develop, or improve the Application. While we endeavour to provide reasonable security, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.

The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Tamil Nadu, India is not responsible for the contents and reliability of linked websites and does not necessarily endorse the views expressed therein. We cannot guarantee that these links will work all the time and we have no control over the availability of linked pages. Prior permission is required before hyperlinks are directed from any website/portal to this site. Such requests, stating the nature of the content of the linking pages and the exact link language, should be sent to the authorities. We do not permit our pages to be loaded into frames on your site; pages must load into a newly opened browser window.

The Application does not use cookies. (Some websites may use per-session cookies for seamless navigation; these are temporary, do not collect personal information, and are deleted when you close your browser.)
